Renowned adman and passionate South Australian, Bill Muirhead AM is South Australia’s 25th Agent General.
He was appointed Agent General for South Australia by then Premier Mike Rann, in April 2007. His appointment was extended by Premier Jay Weatherill in 2015.
Bill completed his education at the Institute of Marketing in London, where he then stayed to begin his career in advertising with Ogilvy & Mather in 1970.
Bill joined Saatchi & Saatchi in 1972. He worked on campaigns for British Airways, Qantas, The Conservative Party, Toyota, BP, News International and the COI.
In 1994, he moved to New York as Chief Executive and President of Saatchi & Saatchi Advertising Worldwide.
He is a Founding Partner of M&C Saatchi, together with David Kershaw, Maurice Saatchi and Jeremy Sinclair and is responsible for establishing the company’s overseas offices.
In 2013, Bill became a Member (AM) in the General Division of the Order of Australia, for significant service to the community of South Australia through the promotion of international trade.
When asked why he took the role of Agent General for South Australia Bill said, “My father would have been proud, and because it’s fun to give something back.”
